Vijay Yesudas: Padma Vibhushan good honour for dad’s continual effort

Chennai: The Padma Vibhushan honour for maestro exemplary and playback thespian KJ Yesudas is a covenant to his continual efforts in a career travelling over 5 decades, says his son and actor-singer Vijay Yesudas.

“It’s a unapproachable impulse for all of us and a good honour for my dad. At 77, he’s still operative tough and this endowment is for his continual effort,” a jubilant Vijay Yesudas told IANS after India’s second top municipal endowment was announced for his father.

The 7 times National Award-winning thespian has thousands of songs to his credit opposite several languages.

Vijay considers himself a “blessed son”.

“As a father, he has always done us demeanour adult to him. Even today, he wakes adult during 5 a.m. and practices. It’s this bid that is profitable off now. we still admire him and watch him in awe,” he said.

Asked if any special jubilee is being designed in a family to ring in a joyous moment, Vijay pronounced it’s not something that his father believes in.

“Awards are zero in comparison to what he has achieved. He really acknowledges them and uses them as an inducement to keep relocating forward. He also doesn’t applaud since it keeps him common and grounded. we have also followed a same philosophy,” he said.

Yesudas’s low-pitched tour began in 1961 with a Malayalam strain “Jaathi bhedam matha dwesham”.

His initial film strain was “Attention penne attention” from a 1962 Malayalam film “Kaalpadukai”.

In a 1970s, he forayed into Bollywood with 1976 Amol Palekar starrer “Chhoti Si Baat”. Yesudas was introduced to Hindi cinema by late composer Ravindra Jain.

Apart from Malayalam and Hindi, he has also sung in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada among other languages.

He had perceived a Padma Shri honour in 1975 and a Padma Bhushan in 2002.
