“I am a wrongest man to play Tommy Singh,” he says, adding, “He’s high on piece all a time and we don’t trust in indulging in any form of intoxication. Second, if we take Tommy during face value, he’s repulsive and someone one could simply detest. But, if we demeanour closely, usually afterwards would we know that he’s vulnerable, contingent on piece and someone to be pitied.”

Shahid says not usually has he learnt that any form of intoxication is bad, though also steers transparent of any kind of obsession — and that includes a high from acclamation of people. “I am not a visitor in this industry. we have been here for 13 years and have come to realize that all is temporary. This celebrity and acclamation gives we an synthetic high and if we take it too seriously, we are firm to be doomed. When we continue being successful for a longer duration of time, it starts altering your personality, even opposite your will. This is a biggest scapegoat that we have to make in sell of fame; one tends to remove one’s soul. we have walked that line and thankfully, come out of that phase. Now, we select not to run after work, celebrity or success. If we select to be who we are, mount by your possess self and be assured of your decisions, celebrity will come looking for you. Even now, sometimes, we have to keep editing myself, reminding myself how not to get lost. It is really easy to remove viewpoint in this madness,” he says.

After ‘Udta Punjab’, he has Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Rangoon’ lined adult for release. After that? “I will be unemployed,” he says, laughing. “Both these films are strong. we am watchful to like something and we should be means to make a preference soon. Also, we wish to be around Mira during her pregnancy. This is my once in a lifetime event or twice in a lifetime opportunity, maybe (laughs). we am holding a bone-fide paternity leave. we was roughly 14 when my hermit (Ishaan) was born. we was grown adult adequate to know what my mom went by during her pregnancy. So, we wish to be around Mira.

“There are also veteran reasons for not signing on something new. When we did ‘Kaminey’ (2009), everybody favourite my performance. we did too. we favourite a fact that we had finished a intrepid choice. But then, after that, we mislaid my approach and was partial of some films that we shouldn’t have done. And afterwards another good film, ‘Haider’, happened (2015). we wish to behind these films with good choices.

“You know a biggest problem that this attention has? We adore recreating a past. we don’t wish to be partial of something that’s already happened. we wish to make formidable choices… frightful choices. we have always attempted to change my looks in many of my films. So, for me, removing in and out of a film takes time. we like it that way,” he signs off.
