South African show thespian Johan Botha passes away

Acclaimed South African thespian Johan Botha died here after a vicious conflict with cancer. He was 51.
Botha died on Thursday morning.
Known for his liquid musicality and effort sound, Botha done his veteran entrance in 1993 when he seemed as Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly” during Opera Bastille in Paris. In 1997, Botha debuted during a Metropolitan Opera in New York as Canio in “Pagliacci”.
Aside from a Metropolitan Opera, Botha sang during probably each vital show residence worldwide, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Royal Opera House in London and a Wiener Staatsoper in Vienna.
Botha’s final open opening was during an show celebration with The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in partnership with a Cancer Association of South Africa in August. He was also scheduled to sing Calaf in Puccini’s “Turandot” and Radames in Verdi’s “Aida” during Vienna State Opera after this year.
Botha is survived by his mother and dual sons.
