Mumbai Food: Shamiana during Taj Mahal Palace Hotel gets a makeover

Almost each small indentation and dilemma during a Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Colaba has a sniff of nostalgia trustworthy to it. When we listened progressing final week that a Shamiana was to be re-launched in a new avatar, we had churned feelings. It reminded us of a good’ ole days when nights during a SoBo pub would finish during a still grill located during a left side of a vast lobby.

Not being means to means many else with a slot money, a pot of bubbling tea and a high potion of cold coffee would be common among a few friends. As we walked in final morning, a new Shamiana had shifted to a right side, where a Starboard bar and a Zodiac Grill grill were located progressing (and where Shamiana was initial located when it opened.) While we quite missed a accessible bar with a lay out we immediately took to a warm, loose ambience of a new space.

The revamped space hosts an open kitchen that facilities a live dessert territory (where live chocolates are done too). While cookery books are built on one side, a wall of celebrity display ing black-and-white photographs of some of a hotel’s renouned congregation are mounted on a wall embellished in a pale colour palette. The new menu facilities comfort food from opposite universe including Mac Cheese (Rs 585) and Rajma Chawal (Rs 585).

The prices have been slashed by roughly 50 per cent from a progressing menu. Our picks would be a melt-in-mouth, Double Baked Camembert Cheese Souffle (Rs 485) and a horde of dessert including a warm, not to sweet, Baked Almond Cake (Rs 585) and a sour V.S.O.P Chocolate Mousse (Rs 585). The menu also facilities a territory that lists a many renouned dishes from a hotel’s properties opposite a world. We found a chronicle 2.0 personal, infrequent and laidback, and in sync with the progressing avatar.
