What do we do when 3 lovable doughnuts, glassy with pickled caramel and studded with pieces of bacon, demeanour during we longingly from a bowl? You embankment a clean bolognaise, and puncture into dessert first. It’s what we did as shortly as we perceived a sequence from Bowl Baby Bowl, a new delivery-only kitchen in Bandra launched recently by a group behind Jamjar Diner and Bonobo.

A punch into a sponge- soothing and wet Mini Bacon Salted Caramel Donuts (Rs 178) and we were mislaid in a tranquillity of honeyed and tainted flavours with a heavenly, smoked aftertaste. Hands down, a best bacon-themed dessert we’ve attempted in a city. Once satiated, we changed on to a eats.

Let’s speak dirty
The menu offers a accumulation of cuisines – South American, Italian and Asian – that are delivered as dishes in stout and microwave-able cosmetic bowls. From a snacks section, we attempted Spinach Cream Cheese Pockets (Rs 220). Deep-fried and crisp, a envelopes were pressed with a delish stuffing that comforted us on a stormy day, generally when eaten with a concomitant honeyed chilli dip.

Then, we dug into Southern BBQ Pork Bowl (Rs 347) where chunks of grilled pig complacent on a bed of unwashed rice (that’s what a menu promised) subsequent to potato salad, corn cob and coleslaw. We savoured a well-cooked, smoked beef whose saltiness was offset with a mayo-laced, starchy salad though a baggy rice, that lacked any seasoning that could be dubbed dirty, injured a dish.

Thankfully, we found retreat in a duck chronicle of Nemo’s Seoul Bowl (Rs 322), a hat-tip to a team’s former venture, Cafe Nemo. The play was packaged with gummy rice, chunks of frail boiled duck and greens doused in tasty Korean salsas laced with peanuts and sesame – surfaced with a boiled egg.

Ragu rant
From a operation of Pasta Bowls, we had systematic Buffalo Bolognaise (Rs 347). Though baked to perfection, a spaghetti left a dry ambience in a palate, as it wasn’t laced with adequate tenderloin ragu, that also lacked seasoning and a compulsory spice from roasted tomatoes.

The clean was redeemed by Veg Laksa Noodle Bowl (Rs 297) heaving with crunchy veggies doused in a creamy, coconut-based Penang curry that we relished with noodles, sharp sambal salsa and a garland of concomitant condiments before reaching out to a initial love, those mini bacon treats.
