Current players can’t fill in Sanga, Mahela large shoes: Russel Arnold

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Russel Arnold feels mythological Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene are irreplaceable and it would be a mistake to design a stream stand of players to fill in their large shoes.

“We are not going to reinstate large players like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, or even Tilakratne Dilshan. They can't be transposed as they are once in a lifetime players,” Arnold said.

“If we ask a stream players to be like them, afterwards we are seeking too most and would be putting too most vigour on them. we consider that’s a biggest mistake we are making, looking for replacements and putting undue vigour on a younger players.

“We have to use what we have. They are opposite players. You have to brand their strengths, let them freshness in their possess time and concede them to rise their possess styles,” he added.

Sri Lankan cricket have seen a large rain in a past 6 months or so. They were incompetent to kick Bangladesh during home opposite formats and afterwards they unsuccessful to validate for a Champions Trophy semi-finals.

The islanders afterwards mislaid to Zimbabwe during home in a ODI array before being whitewashed by India in a Test in a ongoing tour.

Arnold feels injuries and craziness are to be blamed for a down slide.

“Well, it has been a genuine onslaught since Sri Lanka have usually not been means to get on a hurl or been means to brand a team. It has been tough, and lots of injuries have contributed to this,” he said.

“On a other palm bad form of comparison players has been a writer as good and when injuries are put together, a transition has usually not been means to pierce forward. If we demeanour during this Indian series, we have had dual captains in a Tests and 3 so distant in a ODIs. We had another one in a Champions Trophy, so that’s how cryptic it has been,” Arnold said.

The former maladroit batsman pronounced there is no default of talent in Sri Lanka and it was usually about bargain one’s purpose in a side.

“Talent correct we don’t see there is a problem. So once a new preference cabinet manacles out a team, and get some continuity, they will be means to pierce forward,” Arnold said. “It’s not usually about carrying good players, we also need them to play as a team. You demeanour during India ¿ yes, they have compare winners yet they also know any other’s purpose and they element any other.

“For example, MS Dhoni is a compare leader himself yet he worked with Bhuvneshwar Kumar to win a match. It takes time to jelly as a team. Sri Lanka have unequivocally struggled and have been incompetent to go brazen as a team,” he added.

Unhappy during a throng greeting in Pallekele, Arnold has urged a cricket-crazy Lankan fans to be studious in this tough transition period.

“At a finish of a day, it is about doing that vigour and frustrations, either in a throng or as players. We adore party yet a fibre of waste and performances have harm a public.

“If we speak about players determining a variables and doing pressure, a spectators also need to do a same. It is easy to contend that they have to get behind a group yet we are all humans and we like good things,” he said.

“For Sri Lanka, it is time to be patient, a bit calmer in a expectations and to brand a retard of players to go brazen with. We need to make some decisions and hopefully a damage predicament will also settle.,” Arnold said.

The inhabitant preference cabinet headed by Sanath Jayasuriya too quiescent recently after throng difficulty in a third ODI during Pallekele, that Arnold believes could be a step in a certain direction.

“Out of 50-odd changes they (selectors) made, so many were forced changes since of injuries. Sometimes when we reinstate one player, we have to make another change to change it since a group might need opposite components. It is tough to indicate fingers,” pronounced Arnold.

“(But) during a finish of a day yet it comes down to results. So we don’t consider anyone can contend they have finished a good job. It has been a tough one yet they have not been means to broach results.”

Senior pro Angelo Mathews gave adult captaincy after a detriment to Zimbabwe, and Arnold believes Sri Lanka need organisation care from comparison players in this hour of crisis.

“It all comes down to leadership, progressing a group enlightenment and discipline. Even a players need to demeanour during themselves and see what some-more they can do to be improved players and urge as a team,” pronounced Arnold.

Talking about pacer Lasith Malinga’s, he said: “We know he is down in pace, a bit down in aptness as good and he is not a bowler he was. But he is still improved than a rest.

“It is hapless that he has not been among wickets. If he finds his rhythm, he will substantially final for for another year or so, maybe even until a subsequent World Cup in 2019.”

Arnold feels a stream Indian group has abyss in all departments of a game.

“I consider India are in a really good section as they have a lot of abyss in each department. In a past they had a lot of good batsmen, yet usually one or dual bowlers. But now, not usually in a patrol here yet even behind home, there are opposite forms of bowlers available,” he said.

“It is a really plain team. It is tough to kick them with spin or gait or whatever. They are approach adult there in comparison. They have scarcely all bases covered,” Arnold sealed off.
