57 UK patients sue PIO doc for wrong cancer diagnosis

London: An Indian-origin surgeon is being sued by 57 of his former patients in a UK over claims that he carried out nonessential operations on them. Dr Arackal Manu Nair, who it is purported gave prostate cancer diagnosis to patients who did not have a disease, is also being investigated by a UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), it emerged yesterday. The consultant urologist is also purported to have given some patients laser diagnosis — a high power focused ultrasound (HIFU) — that was nonetheless to be authorized by a UK’s National Institute for Clinical Excellence (Nice).
The GMC has placed a series of restrictions on a doctor’s permit until Jul 2017.
Around 170 group who had their prostate private have been contacted by a Heart of England NHS Trust, where Nair used to work.
Lawyers representing a patients are now propelling others who fears medical loosening to come brazen by Sep 30. Nair has not done a criticism on a allegations so far.
