Police in IIOJK raid journalists’ houses over online threats



SRINAGAR:

Police in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) raided a houses of several reporters on Saturday in an review of unknown online threats to around a dozen journalists, a tip military central said.

Police have blamed Lashkar-e-Taiba and a appendage a Resistance Front for a threats.

Local publisher Sajad Ahmad Kralyari was incarcerated for doubt during a raid, and his laptop, camera and cellphone were seized, a central told Reuters on condition of anonymity since he was not certified to pronounce to media.

The raids were during a houses of half a dozen journalists, including author and author Gouhar Geelani, a central said.

Geelani, Kralyari and a other reporters could not be reached for criticism and their phones were switched off.

“The searches were conducted during 10 locations in Srinagar, Anantnag and Kulgam in tie with a review of a box associated to new threats to journalists,” a central said.

Also raided was a residence of a lawyers who has been representing defendants in cases.

Police final week purebred a box underneath an anti-terrorism law after unknown online threats were posted opposite a dozen reporters in IIOJK.
